How does it work?

Our IPL systems deliver rapid pulses of high intensity light to the area being treated. Based on the principle of selective photothermolysis, pulses of filtered light are attracted to melanin, a pigment found in hair. The light is absorbed by the melanin and converted into heat, selectively destroying the germinating cells that feed the hair follicles for growth. By eliminating these cells, the hair then dies and begins to fall out, inhibiting future growth. This means that regrowth occurs more slowly and hairs come through much finer, significantly reducing and perhaps even eliminating time spent shaving!

Who is the treatment suitable for?

The treatment is suitable for both men and women of ALL skin tones. Our advanced technology even allows darker skin tones and sun-tanned skins to be treated.

Which areas can be treated?

  • Upper lip, chin, underarms, nipples, hands, naval line, feet, perianal, fingers, toes.
  • Full face, full neck, chest, stomach, buttocks, perianal, bikini, lower back, upper back, shoulders, half legs, arms and full legs.

What does it feel like?

Compared to many laser and IPL hair removal systems, our IPL hair removal system is gentler on the skin and a far more comfortable experience. Most clients report a warm flicking sensation to the skin.

How many treatments are required?

As a general rule a course of six to eight treatments per body area is the minimum number recommended. Depending on the client, results may be seen after fewer treatments, or in some cases more will be required in order to achieve desired results. Often, different body areas react differently to IPL treatment, with some showing results more quickly than others. After an initial course is completed, maintenance sessions are recommended every 8-12 weeks.

How often are treatments required?

Treatments should be spaced four-six weeks apart. This allows for the hair to be in the active growth stage before being treated again.

Are there any side effects?

It is normal for there to be some redness around the treated area, swelling around the follicle, tingling or a sensation of warmth for some time after treatment. These effects usually subside quickly however (within 24 hours). There is no downtime associated with IPL treatment, making it possible for you to receive treatments during your lunch break and return to work the same day.

Before and After Treatment

Is there anything else I should know?

It is essential that all body areas being treated are prepared prior to appointments with the application of our recommended aloe-based body lotion, which contains moisturising and hydrating ingredients.

For Best Results

IPL hair removal results will differ depending on the skin type, hair characteristics, area to be treated, gender and age of the client. Hair is different on every part of the body. For example; the hair may be closer to the surface or deeper in the skin and pores. It can be thick or thin and can consist of melanin or non-melanin. However, one of the biggest advantages of the technology is that the client almost always witnesses fast loss of hair after treatment, as the follicle has been destroyed and the pore is clean.
